Castro Valley Welcomes Home USAF Sgt Sean Pellaton

Saturday, July 11, 2009, Castro Valley welcomed home United States Air Force Sergeant Sean Pellaton. Sgt. Pellaton was returning home from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan where he was a member of a medical evacuation helicopter crew charged with rescuing injured soldiers and civilians and also performing search and rescue missions.
After going to dinner with his parents, Sgt. Pellaton was surprised with an escort home from a local restaurant by a parade of motorcycles adorned with flags. The motorcycle battalion was a combination of the Warriors’ Watch Riders and the Patriot Guard Riders. Sean was again caught off guard when he arrived home to find his yard and home adorned with flags, the air filled with music and over 100 bystanders waving flags in a show of gratitude.
Some of the organizations in attendance were Operation SAM of Livermore, Blue Star Moms of Danville, the Pleasanton Military Families, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Lafayette Flag Brigade and the Boy Scouts of America Troop 708. The Scottish American Military Society also was present and the festivities included two kilted bag pipers. The Alameda County Fire Department attended with two fire trucks and lots of cheers.
Boy Scout Troop 708 opened the honorable celebration with a flag ceremony. Sergeant Pellaton received multiple medallions, certificates and an American flag from the various organizations. To conclude the gathering, Sgt. Pellaton thanked all those in attendance and asked for a moment of silence to pray for the soldiers, civilians, and families of those who have lost their lives.
Castro Valley is fortunate to have our hero home!
